Argonne National Laboratory — Director, Communications & Public Affairs
Division
Argonne National Laboratory, one of the nation's premier research and development
organizations, is a multi-program laboratory managed by UChicago Argonne, LLC
for the U.S. Department of Energy's Office of Science. The Director, Communications & Public
Affairs is responsible for building a sophisticated communication capability
to enhance awareness of the laboratory's distinctive intellectual profile and
extraordinary scientific and engineering resources and accomplishments among
key stakeholder groups. We are seeking unquestioned competence in providing
leadership in development and execution of an organizational communications
vision and strategy in a complex R&D setting, building a coherent culture
as a strategic advantage, and shaping and managing the public relations activities
and communications challenges in a proactive manner to achieve measurable
results that enable the laboratory to better achieve the mission and goals
it has designated for itself.
Qualifications include a master's degree or equivalent in journalism, communications
or public relations supplemented by progressive experience managing an internal/external
communications staff. Expertise will range from outstanding written and oral
communication skills to proven skills in one or more of the following core
competencies: public relations, branding, internal communication, and new media.
