KEEP UP WITH THE NCRVE WEBSITE

Would you like to get a short email message whenever new publications
and features become available on the National Center for Research in
Vocational Education Website?

If so, send an email message to ncrve-www-announce@ncrve.berkeley.edu,
and put the word SUBSCRIBE in the SUBJECT line of the message. About
535 people were on the list at the end of January.

NEW FEATURES ON THE NCRVE WEBSITE

Simpler, More Flexible Searching

A new, less cluttered search form has been created for searching the
NCRVE products catalog (the titles and abstracts of all NCRVE publi-
cations): <http://ncrve.berkeley.edu/abstracts/QuickFind.html>.  This
form is now the default when you follow the link "Search NCRVE Product
Abstracts" on the NCRVE home page. You can still access the more
complete form at <http://ncrve.berkeley.edu/ProdSearch.html>.

Both of these search forms now include checkboxes that allow you to
restrict your search to those items that have full-text or executive
summaries available online.

NEW ITEMS APPEAR ON THE NCRVE WEBSITE

Six items were added to the Web in the last two months:

  o Classrooms that Work: Teaching Generic Skills in Academic and
    Vocational Settings, by C. Stasz, K. Ramsey, R. Eden, J. DaVanzo,
    H. Farris, M. Lewis (MDS-263, December 1992);
    <http://ncrve.berkeley.edu/MDS-263/>

  o Lessons Learned: Five Years in the Urban Schools Network,
    by E. Nielsen Andrew, C. Dornsife, M. Flack, M. Tsuzuki Hallinan,
    L. Jackson, M. Raby, M. Harris Steadman (MDS-1110, October 1998);
    <http://ncrve.berkeley.edu/MDS-1110/>

  o Local Accountability in Vocational Education: A Theoretical Model
    and Its Limitations in Practice, by B. M. Stecher, L. M. Hanser
    (MDS-291, November 1992); <http://ncrve.berkeley.edu/MDS-291/>

  o "NET Gain" column on Journals, Newspapers, Briefs, and Digests, from the
    January 1999 issue of AVA's Techniques magazine;
    <http://ncrve.berkeley.edu/NetGain/NETGain23.html>

  o The Transition to Stable Employment: The Experience of U.S. Youth
    in Their Early Labor Market Career, by J. A. Klerman, L. A. Karoly
    (MDS-764, July 1995); <http://ncrve.berkeley.edu/MDS-764/>

  o The View From Higher Education: Public Universities Respond to
    Educational Reform, by A. McCormick, M. Alt, S. Geis (MDS-913,
    September 1998); <http://ncrve.berkeley.edu/MDS-913/>

VOCNET AND DISSMN8

VOCNET, NCRVE's listserv discussion list for all voc ed topics, currently
has about 1,500 subscribers, down 2% from 1 December. Approximately 190 items
were posted in December-January.

DISSMN8, NCRVE's listserv discussion list for educational dissemination-
related topics, now boasts 192 subscribers, up 3% from 1 December.

Both VOCNET and DISSMN8 will be moving to a new server early in February
1999; details have yet to be worked out. The change should cause no
disruption in these services. Subscribers will receive news as the
schedule for the move is finalized.
