Housing

Lack of affordable and accessible housing can often be a major problem for people with limited incomes. There are some programs that can help:

  • Oregon Housing and Community Services - Oregon Housing and Community Services is Oregon's housing finance agency, providing financial and program support to create and preserve opportunities for quality, affordable housing for Oregonians of lower and moderate income.
  • U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD) - HUD's mission is to increase homeownership, support community development and increase access to affordable housing free from discrimination.
    • Homelessness - HUD Resource links for programs that provide a range of services, including shelter, food, counseling, and jobs skills programs for the homeless.
    • HUD Fair Housing - Help with housing descrimination.

Transportation

  • Medically at Risk Driver - Oregon law requires that certain physicians and health care providers report to Oregon DMV, persons age 14 and older who have certain functional and/or cognitive impairments that are severe and uncontrollable, and as such are likely to render it unsafe for the person to operate a motor vehicle.

  • Public Transit  - Oregon Department of Transportation "Trip Check" service provides links to routes and schedules for various public transportation services in Oregon.
