CMS-Availability of Funds for States to Develop IIS/Registries

In 2000, the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS) announced the availability of funds to states for the development of immunization registries/IIS in collaboration with Medicaid Management Information Systems (MMIS) in state Medicaid programs. Enhanced Federal financial participation (FFP) was made available at varying levels, dependent on how closely the IIS would b integrated with the State MMIS.

Several States have applied for the enhanced Federal participation and have developed or are developing their state IIS in conjunction with the Medicaid MMIS in their state. Michigan, Wisconsin, and Ohio have been awarded funding.

The following documents outline the purpose, background, requirements, and criteria for requesting funds. Although initiated in 2000, funds are still available through this mechanism.
