Water and Wastewater Disposal Program
(Loans and Grants) -
Provide funding for water and waste
disposal systems in rural areas and towns of up to 10,000 in population. Public bodies, corporations operated on a nonprofit basis, and Indian tribes
that are unable to obtain credit from other sources at reasonable rates
and terms are eligible for assistance.
Emergency Community Water Assistance
Grants -
Provides assistance to rural communities
that have had a significant decline in the quantity or quality of drinking
water. Grants can be made in rural areas and cities or towns with a population
not in excess of 5,000 and a median household income not in excess of 100%
of the State's non-metropolitan median household income.

Water and Waste Disposal Grants
(Section 306C for Colonias) -
These grant funds may be used to
construct, enlarge, extend, or otherwise improve community water and/or
waste disposal systems. Residents of the rural area to be served must face
significant health risks due to the fact that a significant proportion
of the community's residents do not have access to or are not served by
adequate, affordable water and/or waste disposal systems. The entity must
be in an area along the US/Mexico border which was recognized as a colonia before October 1, 1989.
