Volunteer Program
While not a program of the APD Citizen Police Academy, many people
are first made aware of the Volunteer Program within the Albuquerque
Police Department by exposure at the CPA. Many past graduates of
the Citizen Police Academy have gone on to become active volunteers
in the program.
Requirements:
- Must be 18 years of age or more
- Students under age 18 are accepted into the program if they
are in their junior year of high school and are interested in
a career in law enforcement
- Must be willing to submit to a background check and to supply
references
- Must sign a confidentiality statement
- Must agree to donate 4 hours per week to the program and commit
for six months, OR be willing to serve as a back-up as needed
- Must have own transportation
