Overview Community Homeownership Center First Homes Program
Washington State Housing Finance Commission A Regional Coalition for Housing
Overview
There are many local, state, and federal programs which assist first-time homebuyers. The Community Homeownership Center, a clearing house for first-time homebuyer information, can provide information on these programs, which range from education and credit counseling for prospective as well as current homeowners, to low-cost financing.
King County and the cities of Auburn, Federal Way, Kent, and Tukwila have funded the South King County First Homes Program, a second mortgage purchase assistance program, which is administered by HomeSight. Currently funds are available for loans for first-time homebuyers, with qualified recipients receiving up to $25,000 as a second mortgage with payments beginning in the 8th year. HomeSight conducts outreach and offers counseling and education services to first time buyers in South King County through its Kent office. See below for more information.
