Agency for Healthcare Research and Quality (AHRQ) 2007 Annual Meeting

AHRQ patient safety researchers and other stakeholders are invited to attend the AHRQ 2007 Annual Meeting to be held September 26-28 at the Bethesda North Marriott Hotel and Conference Center, 5701 Marinelli Road, Bethesda, Maryland 20852.

The agenda for the 2007 meeting will include a welcome plenary address by Carolyn M. Clancy, M.D., Director of AHRQ, and concurrent sessions on a variety of topics related to improving the quality and safety of health care in the United States with an emphasis on implementing research findings into practice and policy. Patient safety programming is scheduled throughout the three days of the meeting.

Participants will have the opportunity to attend patient safety-focused sessions on such topics as:
  • Patient Safety Reporting Tools.
  • Implementing Medication Safety Tools and Medication Reconciliation.
  • Patient Safety Culture Assessment and Improvement.
  • Safety and Quality by Design.
  • Team Training and Simulation.
  • Human Factors.
  • Redesigning Work Processes to Improve Patient Safety and Quality.
  • High Reliability Organizations.
  • Working Conditions, Organizational Culture, and Health Care Quality.
  • Patient Perspectives on Quality of Care.

A variety of sessions also will be offered on the use of health information technology, including such topics as e-prescribing and clinical decision support systems, health information exchange, and privacy and security. Friday, September 28, will include sessions on driving health care improvement through value-driven health care.

Finally, AHRQ's 2007 Annual Meeting will include an Innovations Café with posters and tabletop presentations on September 27 and 28.
