Region 9 FOIA Requests

The Freedom of Information Act (FOIA) allows you to obtain information from various agencies of the federal government, including EPA. For general information about the types of information available, how to make a request, and potential costs, please visit EPA's FOIA home page.

You have several ways to submit your FOIA request for records in the possession of EPA's Region 9 office:

On-line Request: Fill out and submit the online form below
E-Mail: Send your FOIA request to Region 9 electronically at r9foia@epa.gov

If you are aware that the cost of providing the information requested will exceed $25, you should include in your request a statement indicating your willingness to pay for fulfillment of your request. You may also set a cap in giving authorization; if charges will exceed that cap, EPA will contact you to discuss ways to limit the search or to get approval for the full cost. You will be billed after the requested records are sent and you will have 30 days to remit payment. If the cost exceeds $250, prepayment may be required.

If you elect to use facsimile, on-line, or e-mail, methods to submit your FOIA request, it is not necessary to mail us a follow-up letter to confirm your request. Please direct any questions to the Freedom of Information Officer at (415) 947-4251.

EPA Region 9's holdings generally include environmental information regarding only the specified geographical areas.
