Governor Lingle's Public Schedule

September 17, Governor Lingle will discuss state issues on her monthly radio show.  Listeners are invited to call 808-521-8383 from O‘ahu or 888-565-8383 from the Neighbor Islands with questions and comments.  The show can be heard live statewide on O‘ahu (KHVH 830 AM), Maui/Kona (KAOI 1110 AM), Hilo (KPUA 670 AM), and Kaua‘i (KQNG 570 AM), as well as on the Governor’s Web site www.hawaii.gov/gov.  Recordings of radio shows are archived on the Governor’s Web site.

September 17, The Governor will deliver the keynote address on the economy at the Kailua Chamber of Commerce membership meeting.

September 17, The Governor will deliver remarks at the 50th anniversary celebration of the American Society of Women Accountants Honolulu Chapter.  The event is being held in conjunction with the two-day Pacific Rim Conference, a professional development conference to advance the careers and interests of women in all fields of accounting and finance.

September 19, To emphasize the importance of voting, Governor Lingle will participate in the kick-off rally for Kids Voting Hawai‘i, a nonpartisan effort to educate youth about each citizen’s civic responsibility to preserve America’s democracy by voting.

September 19, Governor Lingle will help open the annual Hawai‘i Seniors Fair – The Good Life Expo.  Various state departments and agencies will participate in the three-day expo to provide important information to Hawai‘i’s seniors and their families.  They include: Department of Budget and Finance Unclaimed Property Program; Department of Commerce and Consumer Affairs Investor Education Program, Insurance Division and Division of Consumer Advocacy; Department of Health Injury Prevention Program, Immunization Branch and Neurotrauma Office; Executive Office on Aging Senior Medicare Patrol Program; and the Department of Transportation’s Walk-Wise Hawai‘i pedestrian safety program.

September 20, The Governor will celebrate the culture and contributions of Hawai‘i’s Portuguese community at the annual Portuguese Cultural Festa.  The event is a fundraiser for the Hawai‘i Council on Portuguese Heritage.

September 20, Governor Lingle will be inducted into the Sales and Marketing Executive International (SMEI) Hall of Fame and will be presented with SMEI's top governmental leadership award, the Ambassador of Free Enterprise.  Earlier this year, SMEI’s Honolulu Chapter named Governor Lingle as Salesperson of the Year.  Other honorees that will be recognized include Steve Case, AOL co-founder and former chairman of AOL Time Warner; Buck Laird, co-founder of Laird Christianson Advertising; and Jack Mitchell, chairman and CEO of Mitchells/Richards/Marshs.  SMEI members from around the world will attend the convention, including members from Canada, China, Europe, India, Japan, Mexico, Puerto Rico and the U.S.
