Secretary Dirk Kempthorne:
Audio of press conference in Tallahassee, Florida following Secretary of
the Interior Dirk Kempthorne's meeting on Monday, December 17, with Governors
Sonny Perdue of Georgia, Bob Riley of Alabama and Charlie Crist of Florida
to discuss water issues associated with the drought in the southeastern
United States. This was the second meeting facilitated by Secretary Kempthorne.
The previous meeting took place at the Department of the Interior in
Washington, D.C. last November.

Secretary of the Interior Dirk Kempthorne attends the Colorado River Water Users Association’s annual meeting in Las Vegas, Nev. and signs a Record of Decision to activate a legal agreement among the seven states that depend on the Colorado River. The document will implement innovative strategies for management of the Colorado River, reflecting “a remarkable consensus” among stakeholders about sharing water during the current drought and charting a water management course for the future. |

Secretary Dirk Kempthorne:
Secretary Kempthorne addressed the International Regulators Offshore Safety Conference in Miami, Florida on Wednesday, December 5, 2007. Secretary Kempthorne applauded the strong safety record and successes of U.S. offshore energy exploration and the Minerals Management Service (MMS), a bureau of the Department of the Interior that oversees the country’s offshore energy exploration. The Primary purpose of the conference is to exchange information on “best practices” and experiences, and to discuss optimal strategies for achieving safety and pollution prevention objectives. |

(GEO) summit in Cape Town, South Africa November 30, 2007. As head of delegation,
