Exercise Builder

The U.S. Department of Energy (DOE) plans many exercises to ensure its readiness to respond to a variety of events. To streamline the process of planning an exercise, the emergency management experts at the Oak Ridge Institute for Science and Education (ORISE) teamed with subject matter experts from the DOE Emergency Management Issues Special Interest Group to devise a computer-based tool called Exercise Builder.

Exercise Builder is an automated, Windows®-based application used for designing and developing emergency preparedness drills and exercises. The program allows your emergency management staff to create Drills and Exercise Plans based on information customized for your facility or site. Separate documents are created for each of the components that make up an Exercise Plan.

DOE has adopted this product as the standard for developing its internal-only exercises.
