Chemical Stockpile Emergency Preparedness Program (CSEPP)
The Chemical Stockpile Emergency Preparedness Program (CSEPP) is a partnership between the U.S. Army and the Department of Homeland Security (DHS). The U.S. Army serves as custodian of the U.S. chemical stockpile.
Through CSEPP, communities surrounding the seven chemical stockpile sites have enhanced their abilities to respond to the unlikely event of a chemical agent emergency. The Oak Ridge Institute for Science and Education (ORISE) works closely with CSEPP to provide the most current, best industry practices for emergency public information and emergency preparedness issues.

2008 Advanced CSEPP Public Affairs and Emergency Preparedness Course: Leveraging Web 2.0 for Emergency Public Information
The 2008 Advanced CSEPP Public Affairs and Emergency Preparedness Course builds on previous Public Affairs and Emergency Preparedness Courses with new techniques and tools for creating powerful and flexible systems for sharing information in an emergency such as:
- Using the latest social networking applications to better manage information and emergency response
- Developing, editing and posting emergency response related video to social networking Web sites and personal digital assistants (PDAs)
- Managing information and emergencies with high-powered PDA-based pubic affairs, medical and incident command applications
- Medical Response and Emergency Preparedness Workshop and Tabletop Exercise
In this two-day course, participants will learn how to use a handheld device (Palm TX) to assist with patient tracking during an emergency event that requires wireless interface between hospitals, emergency operations centers and first responders.
The tabletop exercise will provide participants an opportunity to apply the technology to a realistic scenario where patient tracking plays an integral role in the emergency response efforts.
- Public Affairs and Emergency Preparedness Course
In this three-day course, participants learn innovative ways to prepare for and respond to emergencies through the use of web-based, handheld and wireless technology:- using social networking technologies
- applying handheld technologies
- incorporating wireless systems to stay connected
- CSEPP Exercise and Training Analysis Tool
This database enables CSEPP sites to identify and track functional issues, assess NIMS compliance, improve training and exercise effectiveness of their seven (7) sites, and share critical information with their respective community response partners. - Advisor 6.0 CD
Advisor 6.0 is a computer-based reference product to assist those who work in Emergency Public Information in CSEPP. - WeB-MEDIS
