White Christmas in Amarillo?

Weather records dating back to 1892 show that Amarillo has only seen fourteen days of snow falling on Christmas Day and then only snow flurries were observed on six of those days. There have been 21 Christmas days where snow was observed on the ground, however on 8 of those days only a trace of snow was measured. The most snow to ever fall on Christmas Day was 7.3 inches in 1914.
Amarillo, on average, experiences some form of a white Christmas once every 5 years. The longest time without a white Christmas was a span of 28 years, from 1915-1938.
