NHLBI Research Training Programs for Postdoctoral Individuals and New Independent Researchers


The goal of all these programs is to increase the numbers and capabilities of scientists engaged in biomedical and behavioral research and to offer scientists the opportunity to receive full-time training in areas that reflect a national need. The programs also provide postdoctoral individuals and new independent researchers the opportunity to establish their research careers.

For these researchers, the NHLBI has five research training programs:

 

The above awards provide both part-time and full-time support for 2 to 5 years.

For postdoctoral and new independent researchers, the NHLBI offers three additional research training programs that support individuals from underrepresented racial and ethnic groups, and individuals with disabilities:
