NWWS products originate from all 141 NWS offices, including 106 Weather Forecast offices (WFO), 13 WFO/River Forecast Centers ((WFO/RFC), representing 26 NWS offices in 13 co-located facilities), and 9 NWS National Centers, utilizing the Advanced Weather Information Processing System (AWIPS).  NWWS also receives products from the U.S. Geological Survey's National Earthquake Information Center in Golden, Co.

Products are collected and uplinked to the GE-4 satellite at all 13 WFO/RFCs, 6 National Centers, and 1 WFO (see table below).  The satellite sends the products to Master Ground Station # 1 in Alexandria, VA, where they are delivered to the DynCorp Message Processing Center (MPC) in Chantilly, VA.   Products are then broadcast to users through the GE-4 satellite from Master Ground Station # 2 in Ft. Meade, MD.  Most products are received twice at the MPC from two different satellite uplink sites (paired AWIPS hubs), as a back-up to ensure receipt if one site goes down (duplicate products are removed from the NWWS data stream at MPC before broadcast).  NWWS also receives back-up support from the AWIPS Network Control Facility (NCF) in Silver Spring, MD., for weather warnings.
