NHLBI Research Training Programs for Undergraduate Students


The programs listed below are designed to encourage undergraduate students to consider a career in biomedical or behavioral science and to provide students an opportunity to learn more about the different research careers available. Through these programs, undergraduate students work with experienced scientists at the Nation's top biomedical research institutions, gain invaluable knowledge, and make contacts for the future.

For undergraduate students, the NHLBI provides the following research training program in Bethesda, Maryland:

For students with disabilities and/or from underrepresented groups the NHLBI provides three research training programs. The programs can start a student on a career track leading to an M.D., Ph.D., or equivalent degree.
