CG Foundation Education Grant

Overview

The Coast Guard Foundation Education Grant program (CGFEGP) is for active duty E-3 to E-9 and reserve E-3 to E-9 currently serving on active duty orders of at least one year. The maximum reimbursement per calendar year (CY) is $350.00.

This grant program provides reimbursement for text books and miscellaneous educational expenses. See the list of commonly claimed expenses - the list is not all-inclusive.

* Starting in CY 2007, there is no longer a two (02) year time in service requirement for active duty personnel.

Reservists are still required to be currently serving on active duty orders of at least one year at the time of application submission.

Command endorsements are highly encouraged as it provides positive feedback to the member and enables to board to select the best candidates. However, a blank command endorsement field is not a disqualifying factor. In the case of new E-3s and some prior service members who have not received their first EER, a favorable command endorsement is required in lieu of the total marks factor.

Application

To apply, complete the Coast Guard Foundation Education Grant Application, with command endorsement, and fax it to (405) 954-3684 or mail to:

  • Copies of receipts are not legible. Change the settings on your copier to make the copy darker before faxing to the CG Foundation Manager.
  • Missing mailing address on second page of CG Form 1560/10a.
  • Block 10 of application form should list the total marks score for your last EER. Example: Ldrship: 40, Prof: 36, Perf: 39, Mil: 12 = 127. Do not enter the SWE marks multiple from your PDE.
  • Missing CO's/OIC's and/or member’s signature.
