GOV. RITTER NAMES NEW MEMBERS TO STATE EMERGENCY MEDICAL AND TRAUMA SERVICES ADVISORY COUNCIL

 

Gov. Bill Ritter announced today that he has appointed the following individuals to the State Emergency Medical and Trauma Services Advisory Council. The Council, made up of 32 members (25 members appointed by the Governor and 7 non-voting ex-officio members), is responsible for advising the Department of Public Health and Environment on all matters relating to statewide emergency medical and trauma services programs and service needs.

 

The appointments were made the end of July 2008 and became effective immediately.  Terms of service are for three-year. 

 

The appointments included:

 

Lara Rappaport, MD, MPH, appointed as board-certified physician certified in pediatrics, has a term expiring July 1, 2009, as she is replacing Dr. Michael Allshouse. Dr. Rappaport is an assistant professor with The Children's Hospital Denver.

 

John Hill, FACHE, appointed as administrative representative of an urban trauma center, has a term expiring July 1, 2009, as he is replacing William Wagnon. Hill is the president and CEO of The Medical Center of Aurora.

 

Dan Noonan is reappointed to represent a fire chief of a service that provides pre-hospital care in a rural area. Noonan is the fire chief at Durango Fire & Rescue.

 

Richard Kinser is being reappointed to serve as an officer or employee of a public provider of pre-hospital care. Kinser has been a member of the Paonia Volunteer Fire Department for over 20 years. 

 

Scott Bourn, PhD, RN, NREMT-P, is reappointed to serve as an officer or employee of a private provider of pre-hospital care. Bourn works for American Medical Response.

 

Linda Joseph RN, MSN, is reappointed, having served a partial term replacing Commissioner Dwight Gardner in July 2007.  Joseph serves as the county commissioner from the rural county of Saguache County.

 

Wade Smith, MD, is reappointed to fulfill the requirement of a surgeon from a Level I facility. Dr. Smith is the director of orthopedic surgery at Denver Health Medical Center, and is a world-renowned scholar and orthopedic surgeon.

 

Ray Coniglio, RN, is reappointed as trauma nurse coordinator, having served a partial term replacing Ms. Nancy Carrington in January 2008.  Coniglio is currently the trauma nurse coordinator at St. Anthony Central Hospital. 

 

Michele Sweeney, MD, is reappointed to represent a member of the general public from an urban area. Dr. Sweeney is an educator at Pueblo Community College. 

 

Eugene Eby, MD, is appointed to fulfill the requirement of board-certified emergency physician.  Dr. Eby is currently an emergency physician at Porter, Parker & Littleton Hospitals, as well as medical director for a number of area fire departments. 

 

Sean Caffrey, NREMT-P, is reappointed as government provider of pre-hospital care. He served a partial term, replacing Brian Donaldson in December 2006. Caffrey is the director of Summit County Ambulance Service.
