About Denise Exendine
I am a Health Systems Specialist within the Urban Program, Headquarters (Rockville). As a program office, we are responsible for carrying out the provisions of Title V of P.L. 94-437 and for providing central oversight of the programs and services authorized under Title V. Central oversight is provided through Area Urban Coordinators who serve as the primary liaison on urban affairs between the IHS Area Offices and Headquarters. Rae Snyder, acting Director of the Urban Program is my supervisor. Together our primary objective is that MCH Coordinators, as service experts, will begin interfacing and working with the urban programs in their respective Areas, as the 'U' is a key component of IHS' I/T/U health care delivery system.
We will look optimistically to the future with the belief that all MCH coordinators will communicate with the urban programs in their area, and MCH activities that are conducted in the urban settings will increase the health status of Native women
