Ionizing Radiation Dosimetry


Accreditation is available to any service organization (laboratory) that processes personnel dosimeters used to monitor individual occupational exposure to ionizing radiation. The NVLAP program currently provides accreditation for several different types of whole body and extremity dosimeters; such as, Thermoluminescence Dosimeter (TLD), Film Badge, Track Etch and Electronic Personnel Dosimeter (EPD). Accreditation for direct reading pocket ionization chambers is not available. The dosimeters for whole body applications are proficiency tested to the performance specifications of ANSI N13.11. The dosimeters used for extremity applications are proficiency tested to ANSI N13.32.
