What is RSS? |

The U.S. food science and technology infrastructure meets increasing demand for safe, nutritious, healthful, palatable, convenient, and globally competitive food products. In partnership with academe, industry, consumers, and other federal agencies, CSREES provides national leadership in food science and technology by collaborating with more than 50 academic food science departments at the land-grant and non-land-grant universities and by supporting related projects through three funding opportunities.

In Focus

• CSREES continues Post-Award Management Workshops with the National Research Initiative 71.1 Improving Food Quality and Value Projects Directors' Meeting.
• The Food Science and Technology program funds research projects and conducts leadership activities to improve the processes, safety, and quality of foods.
• The National Integrated Food Safety Initiative addresses the issues of rapid detection and of elimination and reduction of foodborne pathogens in foods.
• The Biotechnology Risk Assessment Research Grants Program funds biotech risk assessment and risk management research.

Partnerships

• With the Agricultural Experiment Stations, CSREES fosters multistate research on high-priority topics relating to food science and technology.
