Breast and Colon Cancer Family Registries

For Research Collaborators: Initiating Collaborative Studies

The Cancer Family Registries (CFR) are designed to encourage international collaborative research. An Application and Review Process is available to investigators in the scientific community who wish to undertake collaborative research projects using CFR resources, i.e. data and biospecimen material. Investigators may apply to one or both Registries (Breast CFR and/or Colon CFR). The following documents provide an overview of the process for each registry:

Breast-CFR Review Documents:

Colon-CFR Review Documents:

More information on the available data and biospecimens available from the CFRs as well as the methods used to recruit participants and collect these materials can be found in the descriptive manuscripts cited below. Questionnaires and data dictionaries used by the CFR centers can be found on the CFR Informatics Support Center website hosted by Research Triangle Institute.

Breast-CFR Descriptive Manuscripts:

Colon-CFR Descriptive Manuscript:

To propose a study, investigators should submit a New Application online. The staff at NCI, along with CFR investigators, will then guide the investigator through the review process.

For further information concerning CFR collaborations, including inquiries about the review process or available resources, please contact Daniela Seminara, Ph.D., M.P.H., (301-594-7347) or Michael Burgio, Ph.D., (301-594-3424).
