CCDO Programs

Faith-Based

CCDO encourages all sites to collaborate with faith-based and community groups as they build coalitions and partnerships to prevent crime and strengthen neighborhoods. The office has a number of faith-based subgrantees and several success stories of faith-based groups working with Weed and Seed sites. A story in the summer 2005 issue of CCDO's In-Sites magazine highlights the work of faith-based and community programs working in conjunction with Weed and Seed sites.

CCDO's efforts in this area are a part of a broader strategy of the U.S. Department of Justice (DOJ). DOJ's Task Force for Faith-Based and Community Initiatives, which is itself a response to the White House faith-based initiative, encourages the full participation of faith-based and community groups in applying for government grants and cooperative agreements.
