News and Information:
HARVEST SEASON BEGINS; MOTORISTS AND FARMERS MUST SHARE THE ROAD
Farmers are also reminded to get overweight permits
As harvest season gets underway throughout Illinois, the Illinois Department of Transportation (IDOT) and Illinois Department of Agriculture today (IDOA) are reminding motorists that tractors and farm equipment are out on the roadways.
If you think your grain truck may be overweight for it's class, truck permits can be obtained from IDOT. These IDOT vehicle permits are only valid for roads under their jurisdiction. See this IDOT site for route information.
Remember to also check with your county highway department and township office....it is advised that you contact your county clerk or highway superintendents before you hit the road to the local elevator.
