Hello,

I am blind and opposed to pavement bumps except for unusual situations. I lived in New York City and used the subway system regularly, pavement bumps would have been of little or no help to me.

Likewise, I am against audible traffic signals. With all the noises in most intersections I find it difficult enough to pay attention to traffic sounds without the addition of beeps or chirps. While living in Boston I traveled through intersections with and without audible signals and found myself much safer where there were no audible signals. In fact, my scariest traffic near-accident happened when I paid attention to the audible signal and not to the traffic sounds.

We need help, but the best help will come with improved O & M, not bumps and gadgets.
