I would like to pass on my wholehearted support for the PROWAC report concerning detectable warnings on subway platforms to help ensure the safety of blind and visually impaired people, and indeed, of the entire public! I have had one close call as a totally blind person, almost falling into a subway pit but for someone yelling out at me. Some twenty years ago I assisted in determining what surfaces would work underfoot in a noisy environment, and it is shameful to me that this is still in the review stage. Make it happen, and give blind citizens the safety warnings we deserve!

I am writing as a totally blind person to strongly urge placing tactile warning surfaces on platforms. I had a close call once, and have, since then, used the tactile surfaces that are in place in some of the Boston subways and found them to be helpful and comforting. Thank you for listening!
