I would like to comment on the proposed audio signals for crosswalks. (I am legally blind.) I think the technology would be useful and helpful. I do not feel it should be mandated, however. I think clear, simple guidelines should be established so that when they are implemented it is done so uniformly per a standard. Criteria should be established that determines the usefulness of such a device at a given intersection. If it warrants audio, it should be required. But to require it at every place that visual "walk" / "don't walk" signals are placed is excessive and bears an unjustified cost. Another reasonable plan would be grandfather in most intersections but require it when visual signals are repaired/replaced.

Thanks,
