My best friend and partner is nearly totally blind, we’ve lived in Madison, Wisconsin, and now in Baltimore, Maryland. We’ve traveled alone and together though cities and countryside (both civilized and rough country) by foot, car, train, plane, and together on an Indian motorcycle, plus down rivers, over lakes and bays and the Atlantic Ocean by boat, ship, and yacht.

My friend has absolutely no problem getting around. Both of us have a really big problem with your committee trying to mandate accessible lights” at street corners all over the United States of America. They would get in the way and they would falsely convince the public that blind folks “need them. On top of that, the newly blind person is going to start thinking that noise means the cars have stopped and Crash Bang is going to be all she wrote.

If I were to use one word for what you are pushing, that word would be--D U M B! I hope I’ve made myself clear.
