I am writing as a concerned blind person in opposition to Audible Traffic Signals and Detectable Warnings.

To install Audible signals at every traffic light with a walk sign is stupid. The noise pollution would be terrible. Those of us who are blind would be resented by businesses or residents located next to these corners. These signals by themselves may not be very loud but when added to all the other noise of city life they would be most unwelcome. In the city in which I live I can think of maybe one or two intersections where such a signal would be helpful.

Give a hoot and let us not pollute. There is enough noise in this world.

Finally, Trunkcated domes are a safety hazard as detectable warnings. When on a trip to Charlotte I witnessed women get high heels caught between the domes. At the very least they could have twisted an ankle or even fallen and had a more serious injury.

Please, do not allow these regulations as written go into force.

Sincerely,
Eugene S Coulter
