Really
Simple Syndication (RSS) notifies you when Louisiana Sea Grant
Web sites have added new content. To receive an RSS feed you need
a news reader or aggregator (a piece of software that checks feeds
and lets you read the new Web content).
There are
a variety of aggregators, some that
use a Web browser and some that are downloadable applications.
Browser-based aggregators allow you to catch up with your RSS
feed subscriptions from any computer, similar to Web-based e-mail
like Hotmail or Gmail. Downloadable applications let you store
feeds on your computer, in the same way you access e-mail using
Outlook.
Once you have
selected your aggregator, all you need do is decide on the content
you want to receive. For example, if you want the latest updates
from the Louisiana Sea Grant Legal Program, you would click on
the orange button below next to LSG Legal. Then you can drag the
URL of the feed into your aggregator, or cut and paste the URL
into a new feed in your news reader.
Use
the following links to subscribe to the RSS feeds that interest
you:

How
do I get an aggregator?
Different
aggregators work on different operating systems, so you need to
choose one that will work with your computer. Many aggregators
are free. Below is a list and links to a number of news readers.
