The presolicitation synopsis for this requirement was published in the FedBizOpps (www.fedbizopps.gov) on April 27, 2006, under the title, "Healthcare Cost & Utilization Project (HCUP)." The solicitation issue date is May 18, 2006.

Background
It is anticipated that a single cost reimbursement contract award will be made under this solicitation for a 3-year period of performance with one 2-year option.
The Agency for Healthcare Research and Quality (AHRQ) of the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services (HHS) is soliciting proposals on a full and open competition from qualified organizations to award a multi-year contract to conduct the next phase of the Healthcare Cost and Utilization Project (HCUP). HCUP is a family of health care databases and related software tools and products developed through a Federal-State-industry partnership and sponsored by AHRQ.
HCUP databases bring together the data collection efforts of State data organizations, hospital associations, private data organizations, and the Federal government to create a national information resource of patient-level health care data. Detailed descriptions of the project and data can be found at the HCUP Web site.
