The Office for Victims of Crime Training and Technical Assistance Center (OVC TTAC) provides comprehensive, quality technical assistance and training resources to victim service providers and allied professionals.

Training Initiatives

• Training for Victim Service Providers. OVC brings practical skill-building sessions to victim service providers throughout the country. Continue meeting your 2008 training goals with this lineup of select workshops from OVC!
  
• State Victim Assistance Academies (SVAAs). Modeled after the National Victim Assistance Academy, SVAAs provide state-specific training in victim issues. Information about SVAAs and help with establishing them is available.
  
• VATOnline, NVAA, and Other Training Offerings. This Fact Sheet (PDF 94 kb) provides information on some of the many training opportunities available to victim service providers, including the upcoming Victim Assistance Training Online (VATOnline) and National Victim Assistance Academies (NVAAs).

Scholarship Programs

OVC is pleased to be offering scholarships to victim service providers and eligible agencies and organizations. The following pages provide information on the application process, eligibility criteria, and application due dates for two OVC scholarship programs:

• Professional Development Scholarship Program. The program provides up to $1,000 for individuals and up to $5,000 for multidisciplinary teams for victim service professionals seeking continuing education opportunities.
  
• State Crime Victim/Survivor Scholarship Program. The program provides agencies with funds to offer scholarships that help eligible victims/survivors attend their conference.

Tools & Resources

• Victims of Crime-A Social Work Response: Building Skills To Strengthen Survivors (April 2006)
  Social workers and students can learn about crime victim assistance and victims' rights and services by accessing this new kit of training materials. Materials include trainer and participant manuals, a discussion guide, and other resources.
  

• National Calendar of Crime Victim Assistance-Related Events-an interactive Web-based master calendar of events in the crime victim services field. Launched in January 2006, this OVC Web tool allows users to find or submit field events for free.
  


• National Conference Support Program. Supports national conferences on victim issues by providing resources or underwriting conference activities. Learn more about the National Conference Support Program, including its comprehensive menu of eligible conference support activities and resources, guidelines, and requirements.
