ETDEWEB complies with Year 2000 requirements. ETDE assumes no responsibility for subsequent data manipulation performed on information retrieved from ETDEWEB. Information downloaded from the ETDEWEB is for the use of ETDE's member countries: Brazil, Canada, Denmark, Finland, France, Germany, Korea (Rep. of), Mexico, The Netherlands, Norway, Portugal, Spain, Sweden, Switzerland, United Kingdom, and the United States and approved non-member developing countries.

Specific ETDE policies regarding the subsequent use of database information are as follows.

Internal Use

Search results, including bibliographic information and abstracts, may be used and shared within the users' organization in either printed or electronic form. The full database, however, may not be downloaded. ETDE should be credited as the source of the records.

External Use

Use Within User's Country

Search results, including bibliographic information and abstracts, may be shared in printed form with anyone within a user's country. Search results in electronic form may also be shared within the user's country, but may not be used for private business profit without the authorization of the countries' whose information is included. In either situation, ETDE should be credited as the source of the records.

Use Outside User's Country But Within the ETDE Member Countries

Search results shared outside a user's country in either printed or electronic form may contain only brief bibliographic information (no abstracts or keywords), unless permission has been received from contributing countries allowing the inclusion of this additional citation information. Marketing or sales of such products developed from search results is generally limited to the user's country. To distribute or market such a product to other ETDE countries, the producer of the product must receive authorization from the ETDE member organization in that country.

Search results in printed form containing only a small number of records (always just a fraction of what is relevant on a given subject) and intended for a small number of recipients (e.g., fellow researchers from other countries) may be shared within the membership without prior permission.

Use Outside User's Country and Outside the ETDE Member Countries

Scientific reports in printed or electronic form which include a list of bibliographic references gleaned from searching the database have no distribution restrictions, but should always credit ETDE as a source of the bibliographic material, based on a search of ETDE's Energy Database.

Search results which show only very brief bibliographic information similar to citations mentioned in scientific reports and that represent only a small number of records (always just a fraction of what is relevant on a given subject), may be shared outside the membership as long as ETDE is credited as the source for the full bibliographic information.

Full Text Distribution

Full text redistribution within participating countries is unrestricted but should be limited to fair use or to use on a non-commercial basis.
