Announces that the Office of
Personnel Management has submitted to the Office of Management
and Budget a request for review of an information collection. Court
Orders Affecting Retirement Benefits requires former spouses of
Federal employees to provide specific information needed for OPM to

July 16, 1998: Federal Employees Health Benefits Program Improving Carrier
Performance; Conforming Changes
- The Office of Personnel Management is proposing to issue
a regulation that would amend the Federal Employees Health Benefits
Acquisition Regulation (FEHBAR) to underscore accountability for
customer service and contractual compliance among the Federal Employees
Health Benefits (FEHB) Program community-rated carriers. The regulation
would enable OPM to better manage carriers' performance over key
contract areas, including customer service measures, information and
reporting requirements, and significant events that might affect

July 10, 1998: Privacy Act of 1974; Report of Amended Matching Program

Gives notice that the Department of Veterans Affairs (VA)
intends to conduct a recurring computer matching program matching
Office of Personnel Management (OPM) records with VA pension and
parents' dependency and indemnity compensation records. The goal of this match is to compare income status as reported to VA with records maintained by OPM. [Federal Register Notice: PDF or text]

July 7, 1998: Submission for OMB Review: Comment Request for Reclearance of Expiring Information Collections

The Office of Personnel Management published three notices regarding submission to the Office of Management and Budget of requests for clearance of information collections under the Paperwork Reduction Act of 1995, as follows:
- RI 25-14, Self-Certification of Full-Time School Attendance, is used to
survey survivor annuitants who are between the ages of 18 and 22 to
determine if they meet the requirement of Section 8341(a) (C), and
Section 8441, title 5, U.S. Code, to receive benefits as a student. [Federal Register Notice: PDF or text]
- OPM Form 1203, Occupational Supplement Series--Form C, is an optical scan form
designed to collect applicant information and qualifications in a
format suitable for automated processing and to create basic applicant
records for an automated examining system. [Federal Register Notice: PDF or text]
- Form RI 25-37, Evidence to Prove Dependency of a Child, is designed to collect
sufficient information for the OPM to be able to determine whether the
surviving child of a deceased Federal employee is eligible to receive

July 1, 1998: Enhancing Federal Training and Education Through Technology; Notice
- The National Economic Council and the Office of Science and
Technology Policy, in consultation with the Office of Personnel
Management, seek information about how to make the most efficient
possible use of new information technologies for training federal
employees in ways that also will accelerate the development of the
broader commercial marketplace. This will require making full use of
innovations in technology for commercial training, encouraging
interoperability of products from competing vendors, and experimenting
with new forms of public-private collaboration to develop high-quality
