Tropical Depression Nine-E spent its short lifetime far removed from any land areas. The precursor disturbance was a tropical wave that moved off the African coast on 27 July. The system entered the East Pacific on 6 August and continued westward without development until the 11th, when convection began to increase. Satellite classifications began on the 12th, and the system became a tropical depression at 1200 UTC on the 13th. Under easterly shear, the depression moved on a generally west-northwesterly track without significant additional development, and subsequently dissipated by 1200 UTC on the 15th.
