About the Litigation Committee
The Litigation Committee meets twice yearly. These meetings primarily serve an educational purpose focused on sharing information among legal staffs of participating States about recent court decisions, pending cases, and litigation strategies.
The Litigation Committee's open session focuses on discussion of recent U.S. Supreme Court and State Supreme Court decisions regarding state taxation and federalism. The Litigation Committee meetings also include an Information and Training Session, which is a closed session to provide in-depth seminars on compliance issues, current litigation affecting multiple states and other aspects of developing state tax jurisprudence. This closed session also provides an opportunity for state tax attorneys to discuss issues arising in their pending cases and to get expert input from other state attorneys who have dealt with similar issues.
