Design Certification Application Review -
U.S. Advanced Pressurized-Water Reactor (US-APWR)

The U.S. Advanced Pressurized-Water Reactor
(US-APWR) is a 4,451-MWt pressurized-water reactor (PWR) designed by Mitsubishi Heavy Industries, Ltd. It is an evolutionary design with active safety features, but is based on established APWR technology. Mitsubishi Heavy Industries submitted its application for certification of the US-APWR standard design on December 31, 2007. The staff of the U.S. Nuclear Regulatory Commission (NRC) is currently performing a detailed review of that application. For additional detail, see the following related pages:

For information on the combined license (COL) application referencing the US-APWR design, pleasesee the Combined License Applications for New Reactors.
