September 14, 2004- The Phoenix Area Tribal Leaders Health Steering Committee Meeting was held
at the Tempe Mission Palms Hotel in Tempe, Arizona. Meaningful dialog took place between Phoenix Area IHS staff, Nevada
and Arizona Tribal Leaders and Tribal Health Directors, Intertribal Council of Arizona representatives,
and Intertribal Council of Nevada staff. The Phoenix Area IHS Staff included experts from the Offices of the Area Director,
Health Programs, Planning, Evaluation & Information Resources, Facilities
Engineering, and Phoenix Service Unit/Phoenix Indian Medical Center.
Topics discussed were:

- Proposed Revised Healthcare Facility Construction Priority System
- Phoenix Area Master Plan Activities
- Tribal Leaders/Area Director Strategy Discussion

June 26, 2004- Adam Beech, Native American actor, & Don Davis, Phoenix Area Director, were
two of the “Wellness Day’ keynote speakers at the National UNITY Conference held on the Gila
River Indian Community.
