Samuel Zell and Tribune Company
MB Docket No. 07-119
Timeline | Orders & Public Notices | Record Documents | Applications | Contacts

On May 2, 2007, the Shareholders of Tribune Company (Tribune) and Samuel Zell filed applications seeking Commission consent to the transfer of control of Tribune, its subsidiaries, licenses, and authorizations to Zell, a trust established for the Zell family, and the Tribune Employee Stock Ownership Plan. According to the application, the Tribune is one of the country's leading news and information companies, currently owning and operating 24 major-market television stations and one AM radio station. The Tribune also operates a local cable television news network and owns several major-market daily newspapers. Samuel Zell is an individual, and he and the other officers and directors of the Zell family trust do not have any attributable interests in broadcast licenses or daily newspapers of general circulation.
