Urban Design and Plan Review Division

Federal and District of Columbia agencies are required to obtain NCPC approval and/or comments prior to proceeding with development projects in the National Capital Region.

In general, building projects, site development projects, master plans, revisions to master plans, and other projects that will alter the appearance of a building or site must be submitted to NCPC for review. Such projects include new construction, additions, renovations, site grading and landscaping, street and road modifications or extensions, antenna installations, parking modifications, and perimeter security.

The Commission also reviews street and alley closings in the District of Columbia and comments on proposed actions of the District of Columbia Zoning Commission.
