OFFICE OF CONSUMER GOODS DESCRIPTION


Consumer Goods is a divsion of the Office of Health and Consumer Goods, one of the five offices in the Manufacturing and Services Unit of the International Trade Administration that specializes in responding to the needs of U.S. industries in the international marketplace.  Seven Industry Analysts cover 123 of the 459 U.S. Standard Industrial Classifications that combined, account for approximately 1/4th of all U.S. manufacturing.

OCG analysts study the competitiveness of U.S. industries; identify tariff and non-tariff barriers to U.S. exports; participate in bilateral and multilateral negotiations to ensure consumer goods industries receive fair treatment abroad; and research promising export markets for consumer goods products.
