Farm Business Management

Farm business management is how farms are organized, operated, and financed. Decisions are made for broad areas of business activity that includes production, finance, human resources, and procurement and marketing of inputs, products and services. This topic identifies how management decisions are reflected in farm business systems, resource allocation, and financial position and business performance.


Spotlights

Agricultural Income and Finance—This periodical provides historical estimates and forecasts of farm sector financial information that gauge the financial health of the Nation's farmers and ranchers. Common topics include trends in farm sector receipts, expenses, debt, assets, and costs of producing crops and livestock.

Agricultural Resource Management Survey (ARMS)—The annual Agricultural Resource Management Survey (ARMS) is USDA's primary source of information on the financial condition, production practices, resource use, and economic well-being of America's farm businesses and the income, wealth and economic well-being of farm operator households.
