Erie County Legislator Daniel M. Kozub was sworn in to his first term representing the 1st District in the Erie County Legislature January 1, 2006, continuing his efforts to serve the public.

Among Legislator Kozub’s areas of service as a County Legislator will be his responsibility as Chairman of the Public Safety Committee, as well as taking the roles of vice chair and member of the Energy and Environment Committee.

Legislator Kozub formerly served as a Lackawanna City Council member, and earned a reputation for being fiscally conservative. The son of John and Maryann Kozub, longtime Lackawanna small business owners, he understands that while government needs to offer basic, mandatory services, it must also offer the services in as efficient a manner as possible so that businesses and residents can continue to thrive in Erie County.

A graduate of Lackawanna High School, Legislator Kozub is a U.S. Navy veteran and a member of several community organizations, including as vice commander of Matthew Glab Post #1477 American Legion and Sons of the American Legion, and he has been involved with AMVETS, Veterans of Foreign Wars and the Father Baker Council of the Knights of Columbus.

Legislator Kozub will use his experience balancing budgets and knowledge of the budget process to advance reforms such as reviewing the Erie County Charter, limiting capital borrowing and trying to avoid spending funds Erie County does not have.
