Tenth District Erie County Legislator Michele M. Iannello (D) began her career in the Legislature on January 1, 2006. Legislator Iannello brings government experience to the Legislature through her previous service as an elected official on the Kenmore Village Board of Trustees.

Michele is Real Estate Paralegal. Her professional and political experiences combined, offer her the talent and ability to serve the constituents of the 10th District with integrity and dedication. The district includes the Village of Kenmore, the City of Tonawanda and a portion of the Town of Tonawanda and all of Grand Island.

Additionally, Legislator Iannello is a previous owner and operator of a small business and understands the needs and issues facing small businesses. She possesses a vast knowledge of property values and the importance of the relationship between government and business. Her community activities include the Romulus Women's Auxiliary, the Zonta Club of Kenmore, and she is an officer on the Board of Directors of Hasek's Heroes. She serves both as a Lector and Eucharistic Minister at St. John the Baptist Church in Kenmore. She is a member of the Kenmore West PSTA and most recently was appointed to the Board of Directors to the Convention and Visitors Bureau. Additionally, she has accepted a position to serve on the Niagara Erie Regional Coalition and the search Committee for a new President of Erie Community College.

Michele's paralegal experience began in 1998 with Michael Blinkoff, Esq. in Kenmore. In 2000 she joined the staff of Schuller & Tibbetts Ortho PC, in the interim she was a Mortgage Specialist with the HSBC Mortgage Corp. For the last five years, until August 2006, she was employed by Block, Colucci, Notaro and Laing, PC, but left in order to give full attention to her Legislative position.

Legislator Iannello is a 1978 graduate of Kenmore West High School. She received her Paralegal Certification in 2000 from the University of Buffalo and continues to broaden her education with several courses at Empire State College. She is the proud mother of Jordan M. Grimaldi and is married to Attorney Dennis E. Ward.

Michele began her term by keeping a promise to help cut costs to the taxpayers of Erie County by giving up her district office. This is the Legislator's personal effort to save rent and utility costs. Her legislative district office is located on the Fourth Floor of County Hall, 92 Franklin Street, Buffalo, NY 14202. She employs two, part-time staff members, to maintain a close relationship with constituents, District Satellite Office hours are scheduled (see sidebar).

Legislator Iannello serves as Chairperson of the Community Enrichment Committee, is Vice Chair of the Human Services Committee and serves on the Public Safety Committee of the Legislature.

She is actively working on major issues such as removal of the Grand Island Tolls, the City of Tonawanda Landfill issue and she recently was instrumental in helping to land the $1.5 billion expansion to the NRG Huntley Plant in the Town of Tonawanda. Legislator Iannello plans to hold future district focus meetings and a Women's Seminar later this year.

Legislator Iannello would be honored to make herself available to any group or organization for appearances or discussion on County Government issues. She is truly proud to have served as the representative of the 10th District.
