Albuquerque Housing Services

AHS BuildingAlbuquerque Housing Services (AHS), is a division of the City of Albuquerque's Department of Family and Community Services. AHS has been providing housing assistance to low income citizens of Albuquerque since 1967. Our purpose is to help people find safe and decent housing. We strive to provide living environments which promote economic and social diversity and upward mobility.

Programs and Services

In Albuquerque, an estimated 60,000 low and moderate-income families are spending more than 30% of before-tax income on housing. HUD standards say that these families are burdened by excessive housing costs. AHS administers programs designed to help these Albuquerque citizens with housing, rent subsidies, housing rehabilitations, homeownership opportunities, and to help them become self sufficient. Currently, AHS is assisting nearly 4,700 Albuquerque families with their housing needs.
