In order to assist U.S. firms in accessing
the procurement and consulting opportunities
that result from the lending of nearly $50 billion
in sovereign loans that are made to emerging
markets, the Advocacy Center has developed "Lead
Line" -- a straightforward tool
for alerting companies to a sample of interesting
new development projects to be funded by the
Multilateral Development
Banks (MDBs). The projects in "Lead
Line" are drawn from every region of the
world and cover a wide variety of industry sectors.
"Lead Line" is not a comprehensive
database of all projects funded by the banks.
Rather, it is a snapshot
of current procurement opportunities that Senior
Commercial Liaison Officers at the MDBs determine
may be of interest to U.S. companies.
How to Use "Lead Line":
U.S. companies may use "Lead Line"
to assemble a database for their own internal
use. The Internet links contained in "Lead
Line" are active, and these links aid users
in finding Bank websites where more detailed
procurement information is located. Instructions
for using "Lead Line's" dynamic sorting
capability is described in a worksheet contained
within the "Lead Line" Excel file
and entitled "Instructions for Use."
Dynamic sorting gives users the capability to
search leads by Bank, sector and/or country.
If you have comments or questions about "Lead
Line", please call the Advocacy Center
at (202) 482-3896 to discuss.
"Lead Line" is in an Excel spreadsheet.
Click on the link below to open it, then save
it to your computer.
U.S. businesses are advised to begin their
exploration of the opportunities at these institutions
by visiting their respective websites, acquainting
themselves with the procedures and goals of
the various institutions, and reviewing the
recently released series of booklets published
