Alabama Independent Living Centers (ILCs)

A comprehensive education and rehabilitation system serving children and adults in Alabama who are deaf, blind and multi-disabled.

Each center provides career counseling, resume assistance, direct job placement, classroom and on-the-job training and information about local and national labor markets and unemployment compensation.

Alabama Work Incentives Network

A statewide program that helps Supplemental Security Income (SSI) recipients and Social Security Disability Insurance (SSDI) beneficiaries, between the ages of 14 and 64, understand their work options so that they may make more informed choices regarding employment.

Birmingham Independent Living Center

Offers services including advocacy, employment and housing assistance and life skills training to empower people with disabilities in Birmingham, Jasper and Alabaster to fully participate in their Alabaman communities.

U.S. Equal Employment Opportunity Commission (EEOC) - Birmingham, AL Field Office

Enforces many federal civil laws, including the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA), that prohibit job discrimination. The Birmingham District Office has jurisdiction over the Jackson Area Office.

United Cerebral Palsy (UCP) of Mobile, AL

Provides programs and services to support the independence and full inclusion of children and adults with cerebral palsy and other disabilities.

Alabama Small Business Development Consortium (SBDC)

Offers one-stop assistance to individuals and small businesses by providing a wide variety of information and guidance in central and easily accessible branch locations.
