Joint Legislative Committee on Aging In Place

Senate Bill 2830 recently enacted as Act 220, has extended the term of the Joint Legislative Committee on Family Caregiving to June 30, 2010, and changed its name to Joint Legislative Committee on Aging in Place. The JLCAIP will meet to review Act 220 and Act 243 (HB 2520), and discuss committee work plans, meeting schedule, and staff support for the 2008 Interim. In addition, the committee will discuss the following projects:

  1. Kupuna Care Program
  2. Respite Inventory Project
  3. Cash and Counseling Project
  4. Family Leave Work Group
  5. Grandparents Raising Grandchildren Task Force
  6. Aging and Disability Resource Center

 

The purpose of the Joint Legislative Committee on Aging in Place, as stated in Act 285 (2006), is to develop a comprehensive public policy program to support family caregivers who provide unpaid, informal assistance to persons sixty and older with physical or cognitive disabilities. The Committee will consider providing support in categories including but not limited to: coordinated services and policies, training and education, respite services, financial incentives and balancing work and caregiving.
