It’s still not too late to comment on proposed changes to Bernalillo County’s Animal Control ordinance. Public meetings on the subject—which started over a year ago--concluded this month but residents can still express their opinions by emailing the County at
animal@bernco.gov. Comments already gathered at the eight earlier meetings are posted on the County’s animal control web page and can be accessed by clicking on each meeting date.
Bernalillo County is recommending changes to its current Animal Control Ordinance to better align it with State and City laws, to clarify language in the existing Ordinance, and to implement a new fee and permit structure. Details regarding the changes proposed by the animal control department are also on the animal control web page and are expected to be presented to the County Commission for review this Fall.
